Congratulations to all at Ellington Infants' School for the glowing Ofsted report they received.
Infant schooling is all too often treated as a glorified child-minding service where pupil education is a low priority (tragically the same can be said for many schools covering all ages nowadays), so the Ofsted verdict is to be welcomed.
There seems to be a trend here in Thanet to excuse poor performing schools with lame excuses about poor teachers being unable to cope with the much-hyped invasion of "nasty foreigners" intent on occupying our council houses, stealing our lowest-paid jobs and dumping their non-English speaking kids on our famously over-worked and under-paid teachers.
So let's hear it for the teachers at Ellington who prefer results to excuses and have rightly been recognised for their efforts.

A wanderer returns
So this is Thanet, eh?
Ain't it just grand? Just like I remember it as a kid. Beautiful coastline, beautiful architecture, wonderful history, lousy council. :-)
I wonder what changes closer scrutiny will reveal. We'll find out soon enough.
